Cardinals Earn A Trip To Detroit To Try To Avoid Being Swept

If anyone stayed up last night to watch the Cardinals beat the Mets on home run by Cards catcher Yadier Molina then you've probably watched the last good baseball game of the season.

We do have to say congratulations to the Cardinals, they brought their 82 regular season wins into tonight and showed the National League who's boss.

What do they win for their NL Pennant......envelopes please.......The Cardinals win a two night trip to cold, rainy and windy Detroit. Where they will face the following but are not limited to:

-An extremely well rested team ( 5 days off)
-A pitching staff full
of flamethrowers (Verlander, Bonderman,
Rodney, Zumaya), not to
mention Kenny Rogers and Nate Robertson who
have been lights
out.
-A tough lineup to pitch against from 1 to 9 no matter
which way
you slice it.
-A manager who burns down two
packs of heaters during a game and has
won the big one within the last
decade.

The Cardinals hitting was suspect and they relied heavily on their pitching staff, which was fine against the beat up Mets. However, against the Tigers they could be in for a long four nights.

We're calling it right now, it's going to be the third straight season the American League sweeps the World Series. Tigers in 4.
