Bad Season Getting Worse For The Lions As Rogers Suspended
Detroit Lions DT Shaun Rogers has been suspended by the NFL for 4 games for using a banned substance.
But Rogers made an honest mistake in taking an appetite suppressant, and he will use his time away from the Lions to take care of his nagging knee injury, his agent, Kennard McGuire, said Tuesday night.
His agent went on to say that Rogers has sleep apnea, and it had caused him to oversleep for one of the Lions games, nice, considering the games are at 1pm! Also, the problem was that Rogers was eating later at night, due to the fact that he couldn't sleep, he was upwards of 340lbs.
"It was a combination of things that led to him going through this process," McGuire said. "He wanted to make sure that he kept his weight and everything under control. He took an over-the-counter GNC supplement that he was really unaware was one of the forbidden substances."
Blame it on GNC, the fact is he got busted with something illegal in his system. Players have gone through this time and time again with the substance abuse guidelines. It might be a smart idea to read the label, or consult someone on the facts before he took it if he was so concerned.
We're guessing this might have been some of that B-12 ointment that was floating around MLB a few summers ago, that Barry Bonds, Rafael Palmeiro and Gary Sheffield may have gotten their hands on.
