TODAY'S HISTORY

35 Years ago today Danny Murtaugh, manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates, handed his lineup card to the umpires for the start of the game. The card, had 9 black players (including latinos) in the lineup. This was a first in MLB history. The lineup was as follows:
Rennie Stennett, 2B
Gene Clines, CF
Roberto Clemente, RF
Willie Stargell, LF
Manny Sanguillen, C
Dave Cash, 3B
Al Oliver, 1B
Jackie Hernandez, SS
Dock Ellis, P

The Pirates went on to win the world series in 1971
