VOLEK DONE WITH TITANS?

Billy Volek will waive his no-trade clause so that he can be traded to another team. Apparently his snaps have been reduced this week because of the acquisition of Kerry Collins this past Monday.

The reason? The rumor on the street is that he will not be the starter this season and quite possibly won't even make the roster for the Titans this year. Tennessee could trade him or release him outright, not have to worry about trading him to a team that may be strapped for cash and less willing to negotiate.

Our guess is that the Titans staff lacks confidence in Volek to be a leader for 1st round pick Vince Young. Kerri Collins has more NFL starts than Volek, has led the Panthers to the NFC Championship, and the Giants to the Super Bowl. Collins will not lead the Titans anywhere but to the golf course in January, however he may be a better fit to teach Young the ropes.

Volek threw for 2,305 yards in his first seven NFL starts with the Titans, far exceeding the most passing yards by any quarterback in NFL history.

Where could the Fresno State alum land? Who knows, but there is a market for back-up QB's out there for sure. Detroit? Cleveland? San Diego? Houston? Only time will tell. Maybe the Oakland Raiders should pick him up, he at least has some success to back up Aaron Brooks, oh wait, that's right, they signed JEFF GEORGE! (photo/SI)
