Apparently St. Louis Did Come To Play

Tiger fans couldn't have been loving much last night at Comerica Park. We were also wrong to think the Cards weren't going to show up.

In case you've been sleeping, like us most of the day. The Cardinals put a subtle whipping on the heavily favored Detroit Tigers last night 7-2, behind starting pitcher Anthony Reyes. Reyes looked he took his hat out of the box it came in from New Era before stepping on the mound, you could rest a glass of water or an ice cold beer on that bill.

On the other side of the ball, starting pitcher for The D, Justin Verlander looked exactly like he was rookie, throwing meatballs to Scott Rolen and Albert Pujols early in the game leading to home runs.

"We didn't play well," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said of his team's four-hit performance. "We didn't swing the bats well. And overall, we just didn't give a good performance."

You think. The Tigers couldn't hit their way out of a wet paperbag last night and made Cards starter Anthony Reyes look like a Cy Young Award Pitcher.

Game two is tonight on Fox, Kenny Rogers is on the hill for the Tigers, who hasn't been scored on in 15 postseason innings, facing former Tiger Jeff Weaver, who has also been stellar in the postseason. Who knows which of these guys will show up, one's we've seen this season or in years' past? It could be a possibility that Weaver could have some bad flashbacks of his days pitching in Comerica. We take the Tigers to even up the series tonight, sending it back to St. Louis 1-1.
