Tigers First Playoff Appearance Since 1987

Smoke 'em if you got 'em Tigers
SportsRx would be the first to tell you that we thought the Detroit Tigers were going to meltdown and not make the playoffs. We were wrong. Last night the Tigers defeated the Kansas City Royals 11-4 and clinched their first playoff birth since 1987. Three seasons after losing 119 games in a single season.

"One-hundred-nineteen to a playoff," said pitcher Jeremy Bonderman, referencing the number of times the team lost in 2003. "Unbelievable."

At some point, someone broke out cigars, and the thick smoke clung to the spray dripping from the plastic, puddling on the floor. Zumaya held his cigar and channeled Al Pacino in "Scarface."

Will the Tigers advance past the first round of the playoffs in the American League?
