SportsRx Presents Today in Sports History

Today, we celebrate Mark McGwire, of the St. Louis Cardinals, hitting his 62nd home run of the season. He had beaten a record that had stood for 37 years by Roger Maris. McGwire would eventually reach 70 home runs on September 27, 1998. The record has since been crushed by existing record of Barry Bonds' 73 home runs in a single season.

McGwire has been relatively non-existent, he's living in privacy, away from the game and refuses to acknowledge whether or not he used anabolic steroids to accomplish this record.
