Sorry Cal Fans You Will Now Have To Pay To See Your Beloved Bears
Fans are pissed:
"They're screwing with tradition from the 1920s," said Marc Gantz, 51, a Berkeley native who has been watching games on the hill since he was in elementary school. "How can they not have the foresight?"
The history behind Tightwad Hill is as follows:
In the early 1920s, engineers excavated the rocky flanks of Strawberry Creek to make way for the stadium, and fans soon claimed the handiest ledges for watching games. Tightwad Hill was born.
Apparently when there is a winning season for the Cal Bears the hill will have about 300 fans hanging up there and during the rivalry vs. Stanford there are about 500 fans hanging out.
Well, we guess these fans will just have to buy some tickets to see their team just like the rest of college football fans out there. The world has lost another freebee, Cal football from Tightwad Hill.

I understand it's a tradition, but these people have to understand that universities are out to get money regardless of what they try and display to the public.
IT's not gone yet. The decision has not been made. Many people -- not just the Tightwads on the Hill, but alumni, people of all stripes want to see Tightwad Hill remain. go to tightwadhill.org for more info.
That's great if there is support for it, but when it comes down to the almighty dollar in this country, unfortunately, the consumer rarely wins.
Think about it, they won't lose fans over the loss of the hill, although it would be nice if they keep it for tradition.
Dan Sicular, you are a freaking disgrace. Your sense of entitlement is appallingly stupid.
I hope Tightwad Hill will be closed down. Maybe you should have settled for partial views instead of suing the University.
