A-Rod Makes Public Appearance

Alex Rodriguez dined at the midtown restaurant Serafina yesterday with his wife Cynthia, while half a block away, his demanding Boss was wolfing down a steak sandwich at the Regency Hotel and contemplating whether or not Joe Torre will manage the $200 million Yankees in 2007.

Only 48 hours after concluding a miserable 1-for-14 (.071) performance in the division series against the Tigers, A-Rod was in full view for the New York City public and a horde of reporters chasing him around an entire city block.

A-Rod stared straight ahead, with a frozen smile while Cynthia Rodriguez looked like she wanted to crawl into a hole. One female fan walked by and shouted in Spanish, "I'll see you on the Mets next year!" A-Rod chuckled at that one, but immediately went back to grumping at reporters.

"Guys, I'm with my wife and we're having a little private time," he finally said. "And we'd really appreciate it."
