Merriman To Appeal Steroids Case

We haven't said a word about the Shawne Merriman steroids issue, it's been a busy week for us. It's come to light that he will play for at least the next two weeks until his court case on November 7.

His agent says he's absolutely not taking steroids:

"He is not taking steroids,” Cornwell said. “ ... Shawne took supplements and has taken supplements for quite some time. He did not go into the back alley somewhere and put a needle in his butt for steroids.”

We don't want to comment until he loses his court case, but there isn't a conspiracy out to get Shawne Merriman here, there obviously had to be something illegal in his system.

The funny thing about steroids in football is players are suspended only four games with a positive test, they can bounce back from that and fans will forgive said player with one great performance on the field. With track and field, you are done for two years minimum, that ruins careers.

Yes it's possible, but come on, you should be damned sure that anything you take is not going to make you fail a test.

I agree, but if you go to GNC and buy protein powder over-the-counter, I wouldn't think twice if it would cause me to fail a drug test. I guess players will now. That is also why the league should manufacture their own supplements.
