Game 3 Tonight: LaRussa Speaks About Roger's "Dirt"

What's that stuff on his hand? Back to the World Series tonight, this time in St. Louis, and Cards Manager Tony LaRussa is finally talking about the Kenny Rogers incident from Sunday night.

While Leyland, on the Tigers' side, refused to comment about the incident, calling it off as "yesterday's breakfast". LaRussa explained what was going during the game and what his thoughts were about the incident.

''I don't believe it was dirt,'' La Russa said. "Didn't look like dirt.''

''There's a line that I think defines the competition,'' he said. "And you can sneak over the line because we're all fighting for the edge. I also know that pitchers use some sticky stuff to get a better grip from the first throw in spring training to the last side [session] they're going to throw in the World Series. That doesn't cross the line.

Pretty much without directly saying so, LaRussa is calling Rogers' a cheater. You have to wonder since Leyland isn't commenting on the issue is he conceding that it may have been something foreign on Rogers' hand?

It's Nate Robertson vs. Cris Carpenter tonight at Busch.
