Juan Uribe Wanted In The D.R.
White Sox shortstop Juan Uribe and his brother are being investigated in the Dominican Republic for their alleged involvement in the shooting of two men, according to El Nacional newspaper.
According to a police report, Uribe and his brother, Elpidio, thought that the victims walked too close to their jeep. Dondolin Alessandro, 41, a captain in the Italian Navy, suffered wounds to his stomach and hands. Antonio Gonzalez Perez, a farmer who tried to intervene, suffered a left-elbow injury but was treated and released.
Martin Arburua, who represents Uribe, said late Sunday night that he was informed that his client "wasn't involved" in an incident and sounded calm, based on a telephone conversation Arburua had with one of his associates who talks daily with Uribe.
Just two weeks ago GM Ken Williams of the White Sox gave Uribe the green light as the shortstop for next season. If Uribe is involved in this incident, looks like acquiring A-Rod from the Yankees and moving him to shortstop wouldn't be such a bad idea.
Next we will see Uribe as the official spokesperson for Jeep.
