Denzel Washington Wanted To Play Dwight Gooden

According to Page Six, Denzel Washington apparently wanted to play the role of former major league pitcher Dwight Gooden in a film.

Denzel Washington told Dwight Gooden's former agent (and former Yankee batboy) Ray Negron how disappointed he was that he never got to play the ex-Yankee pitcher in a movie Warner Bros. was developing but never produced.

Gooden had battled cocaine addiction throughout his career, in which he played for the New York Mets, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
