Coker: "I Haven't Seen Any Banners"

Deadpanning that one of his players pointed out to him ''the bad'' banner plane calling for his firing before the University of Miami's 14-13 victory over Houston, Hurricanes football coach Larry Coker quipped Sunday morning, ``Don't worry, because I'm not suiting him up anymore anyway.''

But the coach quickly said he was joking and had not seen any of the three negative Coker banners -- nor the pro Coker banner -- flown around the Orange Bowl before kickoff. He said he understands what fuels those types of actions and does not expect the public outcry about his future to stop just because the Hurricanes won.

''You're expected to win,'' Coker said. 'People have opinions. My old college coach said, `You know, there are 5 percent of the people in the world that hate motherhood.' So you're going to have a lot of againsters in the world. If you can't handle that, go do something else.

Larry it's not like you beat a team that has a history of being a great program. It's Houston, you only won 14-13, and they haven't been good since Andre Ware and David Klinger.
