The Baltimore Orioles trade seasoned veteran Jeff
Conine to the Phillies yesterday. This will add a
much needed bat in the outfield for the Phils as they
try and earn a Wild Card Birth this season. Philly is
one game out of the Wild Card Lead behind struggling
Cincinnati, who has dropped their last three games.
Conine is hitting .265 with nine homers and 49 RBIs.
"It's a good opportunity for him to go on at the tail
end of his career. You don't have many opportunities
to go on and play in the playoffs." said Jim Duquette
the VP of Baseball Operations from Baltimore. No
kidding!!!! We thought the Orioles were going to make
the playoffs with their 59-71 record!!! Conine just
turned 40 this past June. Unfortunately he won't be
celebrating in October like he is here!
