Where Oh Where Will Barry Be In '07?

Who wants some?No one seems to know where Barry Bonds will end up next season, which could be his last. With his knee injuries and obvious ineffectiveness in the field, a likely fit would be an American League team where he can simply play DH.

Tigers coach Andy Van Slyke, who played -- and sometimes feuded -- with Barry Bonds in Pittsburgh, predicted his old teammate will return to the Giants in 2007 "if he can swallow his financial pride." What about signing with Detroit to be the designated hitter? Van Slyke, who last played 11 years ago, said, "I have a better chance of DHing here than he does."

According to a Detroit newspaper, Jim Leyland and Bonds dined at Scoma's in San Francisco after Monday's Coliseum workout, but Eavesdrops sources say it never happened. Leyland was there, but with some Tigers players. Leyland has been trying to hook up with Bonds and got a message from him early Wednesday. Bonds spoke with Leyland's wife for a few minutes, then resumed his rehab in the wake of elbow surgery.

Remember Bonds was managed by Leyland during his days in Pittsburgh, many will wonder if a reunion will happen next season.
